Ummu Zavaya the headquarters of Al Fassiya Ash Shadhili Thareeqa in Sri Lanka. Al Fassiya Ash Shadhili Thareeqa was introduced to Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) by Marhoom As-Seyyed Ahamed Ibunu Salihul Yamani in the Gregorian Year 1866, corresponding to Islamic Hijri-Year 1283 and established the first Zaviya in Sri Lanka in the Gregorian Year 1867, corresponding to Islamic Hijri Year 1284. Ummu Zavaya was founded in the Hijri year 1303 / 1886 CE with the arrival His Holiness Marhoom Ash Sheik Muhammad Salih Moulana Al Fassy (Raliallahu Anhu) in Sri Lanka from the "Baith Ul Fassi" Makkah Al Mukarramah, in the present Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Since 1303 AH / 1886 CE, with the arrival of Marhoom Ash Sheik Muhammad Salih Moulana Al Fassi (Raliallahu Anhu) in Sri Lanka, all Sheiks (spiritual leaders of the Al Fassiya Ash Shadhili ) who visited Sri Lanka stayed at the Ummu Zavaya. This tradition is followed to this date. They made short visits to other Zaviyas from Ummu Zavaya. On 7 June 1892 the annual recital of Manaqib Ush Shazuliya commenced at the Ummu Zavaya. This is being held annually to date without a break. This is the oldest function at Ummu Zavaya. The grand function at Ummu Zavaya is the Reading of the Shamail Thirmizi from the 1st to the 12th days of Rabi Ul Awwal – Meelad Un Nabi. It is held every year without a break for over a century now. This was started on Wednesday 25 April 1906. In the year 1960, Ummu Zavaya was extended to accommodate the growing number of Ikhwans/followers of the thareeqa. This could be considered one of the major milestone in the history of Ummu Zavaya and stands till this day. ==Ajward Al Fassi Arabic College== Keeping with the wishes of the late Sheik Us Sajjadah Muhammad Ibrahim Al Fassy Al Macci Ash Shazulee (Raliallahu Anhu), the Board of Trustees of Ummu Zavaya, at their meeting held on 7 November 1997 resolved to establish a "Madrasa" (Arabic College) at the Ummu Zavaya premises with the noble intention of producing Moulavis with the Al Fassiya Ash Shazuliya background and for the continuous propagation of Al Fassiya Ash Shazuliya Thareeqa in Sri Lanka. This resolution was presented to the Board by the President of Ummu Zavaya Deshabandu Al Haj. Mohamed Macky Hashim. The Board unanimously adopted the resolution. On 13 March 1998 the Board resolved to appoint Khaleefathush Shazulee Moulavi Al Haj. M.S.M. Zarook Alim as the Director/Principal of the Arabic College, also known as "Madrasa." Khaleefa Zarook Alim was very keen to get this Arabic College started at Ummu Zavaya as the Sheik Us Sajjadah had questioned him several times about his request to start a "Madrasa" when he visited the Baith Ul Fassi during every Hajj pilgrimage since 1992. Sheik Us Sajjadah Sheikh Abdul Wahab Ibrahim al fassi was contacted for a suitable name. He replied by fax suggesting "DARUTH THAWHEED" as the name for the Arabic College. At the BOT meeting held on 24 April 1998, the name of the Madrasa as "DARUTH THAWHEED ARABIC COLLEGE" was officially adopted. The Arabic College was inaugurated on the 12th Rabi Ul Awwal 1419, (7 July 1998) at 10 am with fourteen students. Moulavi students were provided with uniform, books, and all three meals with accommodation. At the BOT meeting held in August 1998, on the advice of the Madrasa Committee, the Board approved the name of the Arabic College "Madrasa" to be amended as "DARUTH THAWHEED ASH SHAZULEE ARABIC COLLEGE". The addition of the words "ASH SHAZULEE" was done with the intention to give the College the Shazuliya Thareeqa flavour. At the Board of Trustees meeting held on 10 October 1998, the Board approved the idea put forward by the Madrasa Committee for the construction of a separate building to house the Arabic College. The estimated cost of this building at the time was Rs 4.5 Million. The foundation stone for the new building was laid on 11 November 1998 at 9.45 am by Deshabandu Al Haj. Macky Hashim, President of the Board of Trustees of Ummu Zavaya. On 14 November 2002 the new building was officially declared open and the Moulavi students went into occupation. Now the classes were conducted in this building on the first floor. The student dormitory is in the second while the dining hall; library and kitchen are on the ground floor. The sudden demise of the founder Director/Principal of the Arabic College Khaleefathus Shazulee Moulavi Al Haj. M. S. M. Zarook Alim on 11 September 2000 was an irreparable loss to the Shazuliya Thareeqa in general and to the Arabic College in particular. To fill the vacuum created by the demise of the founder Director, on 27 October 2000, the Board appointed Moulavi M. S. M. Yehiya (Ghayazi) as Director/Principal of the Arabic College. In January 200. In February 2001, Moulavi Al Haj. Ishak Lebbe Mohamed Saleem (Deeni & Bari) was appointed as Ustaz. For a very short period, Khaleefa Abdul Cader Alim too remained in the tutorial board of the Arabic College. On 4 January 2004 we saw another momentous event in the history of the Fassiyathush Shazuliya Thareeqa in Sri Lanka. It was the day on which Najmul Ulema Sheikh Ajwad bin abdullah al Fassi accompanied by his son Sheik Muhammed bin Ajwad Al Fassy, a lawyer by profession, arrived in Sri Lanka. On 17 January 2004, Sheikh Ajwad bin abdullah al Fassi (Najmul Ulema) and Ash Sheik Muhammed bin Ajwad Al Fassy visited the Arabic College. They met with the Director, Ustazs and the Moulavi students. After this meeting they informed the Board of Trustees of Ummu Zavaya to change the name of the Arabic College as "AJWARD AL FASSI ARABIC COLLEGE" in remembrance of the patriarch of the Al Fassiya Al Shazuliya Thareeqa. This was accepted by the Board and thus the name of the Madrasa came to be known as "AJWARD AL FASSI ARABIC COLLEGE." In 2005, AJWARD AL FASSI ARABIC COLLEGE was registered with the Department of Muslim Affairs, in keeping with the laws Sri Lanka. On 28 May 2006, eight students successfully completed their course of study and were awarded their degree certificates and title "Ajwadi". This was the first batch of graduates produced by Ajwad Al Fassi Arabic College. The graduation ceremony was held at the Ummu Zavaya on 28 May 2006 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Ummu Zavaya」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
